Samsung Glow Ring on Galaxy J2 (2016) — The ring will glow to notify users of a call, text or when the battery is running low. An added feature is Smart Glow’s ‘Selfie Assist’, which will help users with selfies. Selfie Assist will glow when it detects the user’s face is in focus and will automatically click the photo as well.
Usage alerts provide notifications pertaining to storage and memory. Also, the Smart Glow’s light can change color depending on which contact is calling or texting.
Reports claim that this notifications feature will be introduced with the Samsung Galaxy J2 (2016). While there is no word on a launch date, the smartphone was recently spotted on benchmarking websites. They revealed some of the specifications and features of the smartphone, which include a 5-inch HD (720p) display, Spreadtrum SC8830 quad-core processor, 2GB RAM, 16GB onboard storage, and a microSD card.
It is also expected to feature an 8-megapixel rear camera, 5-megapixel selfie camera, and connectivity options like dual-SIM card slots and 4G LTE connectivity. On the software front, it will run on Android Marshmallow 6.0.1 wrapped under TouchWiz UI.
Smart Glow will gain more functionality as devices are released. Soon, the notification system could include a weather ring and health ring, which will indicate the weather outside and a user’s heart rate. For now, the ring will only be available in India on the J2, but Samsung reportedly expects to include it on future devices, including the Galaxy S8 and future Tizen phones.
