Reliance Jio was launched today by Mukesh Ambani. He mentioned, Now Indians would no longer have to turn off data on their phones. All plans come with unlimited voice calls and SMS.
From the 5th of September, India will change for ever. The commercial Jio operations will go live on September 5 for everyone.
1. In Delhi and Mumbai, those with Aadhaar cards will be able to get their connections activated in 15 minutes with e-KYC. New users will get unlimited access to all services till December 31.
2. All tariff plans come with free access to all Jio apps and services.
3. All tariff plans will come with free data usage at night. There will be no charges for roaming within India. Reliance Jio will charge a standard Rs.50 per GB of 4G data. If you are an existing Reliance Jio customer, here’s some good news. You will be able to enjoy free unlimited usage till the end of December 2017.
4. Students with valid student ID cards would get 25 percent extra data on every tariff plan.
5. The JioFi router is now priced at Rs 1,999.
6. Jio is also launching Wi-Fi hotspots across the country. To have a million hotspots by next year. Also connecting schools and colleges with Wi-Fi hotspots.
7. Jio is also getting into the FTTH business. Will provide wired broadband connections up to 1Gbps in select cities, will eventually bring it to India’s top 100 cities.
8. Jio will have special plans for enterprises and platinum customers.
9. Finally, the target is to have 100 million subscribers in the shortest time.
Note: Airtel lost 13,800 crores of market cap just after the Jio announcement. Airtel crashed 9.09 per cent to hit a 52-week low of Rs 85!
