Lumir C: Candle Powered LED Lamp (No plugs, No batteries)

Lumir is a portmanteau word of ‘Lumi’ which means the light and ‘Mir’ which means the world. Lumir C Candle Powered LED Lamp is their first product.

‘Lumir C is a candle powered LED lamp without  any external power supply. You can read a book in your terrace or create elegant mood, only with one candle.’

Simplicity ; Just putting Lumir C over a lighted candle will turn the LED on.

No battery ; Batteries have been causing severe pollution to environment. But eco-friendly Lumir C doesn’t use any batteries so it is free from that problem.

Cordless ; It doesn’t need any burden wire or outlets because your candle will make electricity instead. So you can use Lumir C anywhere you want such as in camping, on bedside or while decorating your house if you have just one candle.

Simple design ; With our neat design, it fits everywhere.

Accroding to the team, We’ve come to know the seriousness of blackouts travelling throughout India. Though many households in developing countries still brighten the darkness with candle light, it is too dark to lead an everyday life with only one candle.

Therefore we agonized over the problem.

‘What if they can light up a room with just one candle?’

We focused on the fact that most of fuel are spent as heat energy when a candle burn. By using the principle which is the conversion of temperature difference in two other types of semi-conductor directly into electricity, Lumir C turns LED on only with heat energy of the candle without external power supply.

Lumir C is shaped after a lighthouse that lights up a dark sea. Delicate mood of a candle and modern sense of LED are in wonderful harmony.

• How does it work?

  Inside the product, there are semi-conductors that make electricities by the difference of temperatures in the product. By our own radiating structure, we made it possible to supply electricities consistently with small flame.

• Is there any ON/OFF Switch?

  No. If you put Lumir C on the lit candle, LED will become bright gradually and if you blow out on the top of Lumir C, it will be start to turn off. That’s it!

• Doesn’t it explode or melt?

  You don’t need to worry about the danger of explosion, since there is no battery in our product. We have also lowered the danger of fires by using heat resistant materials. Thermoelectric module’s life is commonly expected 10 years and LED’s life is about 50,000 hours.

  Of course, solar lamp is a really good product for the undeveloped countries to light up the darkness. But when the weather was little cloudy, some of solar lamp wasn’t able to be recharged. Also, the more important problem was that there was no one to replace the rechargeable Li-ion batteries which has 1-2 years of life span. So we tried to make more light with a candle that they could easily get and already used commonly.
