The Moto Z Play is the latest mid range smartphone from Lenovo owned Motorola featuring Google’s Android 6 Marshmallow OS. The design is similar to Motorola’s flagship offering Moto Z and Moto Z Force and is compatible with MotoMods accessories.
The Moto Z Play features a 5.5-inch Full HD display with resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels. It is powered by Snapdragon 625 processor and 3GB RAM. For multimedia, the new Moto Z Play packs a 16 Mega Pixel rear camera with laser autofocus and 5 Mega Pixel front facing camera for video calls and Selfie pictures.
‘Moto Z Play has claimed 50 hour battery life.’
Lenovo, which owns the Motorola brand, also announced the Hasselblad True Zoom Moto mod clip-on camera for all Moto Z smartphones. The ‘mod’ (Motorola’s lingo for an accessory) clips onto the phone using a battery and can be controlled using physical buttons or the phone’s screen. Developed in partnership with the Swedish firm, the 12MP camera has a 10x optical zoom, xenon flash and an option to shoot images in RAW.
The Moto Z Play comes pre-installed with Google’s Android 6.0 Marshmallow OS. For storage it comes with a 32GB built in memory and micro-SD card slot. In addition to that it comes with a powerful 3510mAh battery that is expected to last 50 hours on a single charge. The new Moto Z will go on sale in selected markets (including Europe) in September for €499.
