At IFA 2016, ASUS announced a new smartwatch, and trust me it looks amazing. ZenWatch 3 is a perfect upgrade over ZenWatch 1 and 2. The new smartwatch from ASUS is round, and not square like the older ones. The casing of the watch is made from stainless steel and will be available in a few different styles: gunmetal (black), silver and rose gold. All three have a gold inlay, which ASUS claims is like “the corona of an annular solar eclipse.”
The smartwatch features a 1.39-inch AMOLED display (400 x 400 resolution) set on a 316L stainless steel watch case, which Asus says is 82 percent stronger than regular steel, for a more jewelry-like look. It’s also thinner than the Apple Watch at 0.39-inches thick. Also more thinner than both the Huawei Watch and Moto 360.
It runs on a Qualcomm Snapdragon Wear 2100 processor and 512 MB RAM. It has 4 GB of internal storage. ASUS claims that 341mAh battery will last for at least two days. ASUS has also included “HyperCharge” technology, which will bring you back up to 60 percent in 15 minutes. The new smartwatch also has some fitness chops, with automatic step-counting that is supposedly 95 percent accurate. It can also track a few other basic activities such as running, push-ups and sit-ups etc.
The Zenwatch 3 will cost around €229 (roughly $255) in Europe. There’s no word on availability yet.
