Posted in Mobile/Tablet

This is the fifth generation of LG’s flagship smartphone, and this time around, the phone has been completely reimagined: The G5 has an aluminum case, includes a crazy expansion slot that we’ve never seen on a phone before, and supports a handful of accessories that make the phone feel more like a toy than a smartphone.

The G5 doesn’t include any major design elements from its predecessor, meaning the company was trying to do something starkly different. Although the G series was never accused of being ugly, it undoubtedly made some people hesitate when they saw aluminum-and-glass phones like the Samsung Galaxy S6 or Apple iPhone.

Unlike its predecessor, the LG G5 comes with a completely new metal design. LG has done away with the power and volume buttons at the back, which we’ve seen in the G3 and G4. Instead, there is a dual-camera module with laser auto-focus and a fingerprint scanner located right below it.

It sports a 5.3-inch QHD display (2560x1440pixels) with a pixel density of 554ppi. It is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 820 SoC paired with 4GB of RAM, 32GB of onboard storage along with microSD card slot to expand it further.

One of the other highlights of the LG G5 is its dual-cameras at the back – one with a standard 16-megapixel 78-degree lens and other is an 8-megapixel 135-degree wide angle lens. LG has designed the camera module to hep help users capture larger groups, tall buildings and landscapes. Selfie lovers won’t be disappointed too as the smartphone features a front-facing 8-megapixel camera.

Armed with 2,800mAh removable battery, Bluetooth 4.2, NFC and Wi-Fi 802.11ac, the smartphone also features USB Type-C 2.0 port. The G5 runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow OS wrapped under LG’s custom UI. The G5 will be available in four different colors, silver, gold, pink and silver.
